Prison OutReach Ministry
While we are dancing and rejoicing because of what the Lord has done, there are millions of our brothers and sisters who are behind bars in our prisons un-attended both Spiritually, psychologically and even physically.
Many of them have families to take care of as breadwinners; but pause for a minute and ask yourself these questions;
1)Are their children going to school?
2)Do they have enough food?
3)Are they clothed?
4)Do they have the quality Shelter?
5)Are they warm?
6)Where are their spouses and what are they doing?
7)Are they healthy?
With all these questions and many more, I believe it is the right time the church of Jesus Christ must arise to the occasion and take up the task of reaching out to the prisoners and their IMMEDIATE FAMILIES.
That is my concern when I see the state of anguish and despair in prisoners and hearing stories of misery and lost hope of what tomorrow holds.
There are some prisons with a capacity of around 2000 (Two Thousand) persons, but it has more than 4,500-6,000 persons (prisoners) due to lack of adequate space. Many die of mere colds for lack of blankets and because of cold floors.
We may not strike an impression before our God and our generation if we fail to take a step of faith and share the love of Christ Jesus in the capacity we can in line with our diverse callings and skills.
I lost my brother-in –law on 29 December 2007 in one of our Prisons, Why? Due to Negligence.
Jesus Christ’s great commission still remains “Go ye to all the world and preach the Gospel”…. This includes the prisoners and their families.
Hear what the Great Master Himself has to say to you and me:
“…I was Hungry and you gave me food,
I was Thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was a Stranger and you welcomed me,
I was Naked and you clothed me,
I was Sick and you visited me,
I was IN PRISON AND YOU CAME TO ME…
…Truly, I say to you, as you DID it to one o f the LEAST of these My Brethren, you did it to Me.” – (Mathews 25: 35b-36, 40b)
Hear what Pastor Job of old tells you and I, … “…. I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, and
I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
I was eyes to the blind,
And feet was I to the lame.
I was a father to the poor, and the cause, which I knew not I searched out.
Job 29: 12-13,15-16
As a Pastor, it bits logic to assume that one can preach the gospel, which is the Power of God unto Salvation to a hungry and a thirsty person.
Our approach is to reach out to prisoners and by God’s help reach out to their immediate families and physically share the Great love of Christ in totality to the cry of the Master.
We really need your Input Support, Help and Knowledge to be able to heed to the great cry of compassion to them whom circumstances have forced them to the Pit of dire need.
Due to the poverty level in our Community, it is said that sex is the only ‘leisure’ of a poor man. I agree on that statement because great numbers of children are in the Slums. You can find a family of around 9-12 members and they cannot even afford two (2) meals in a day or 1(One) Us$ (Dollars)- around 70(Seventy) Kenya Shillings per day. As a Pastor, I may lead them to the saving Grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but they are still hungry and naked.
That is why I need you the Minister of the Gospel, the Volunteer (The good Samaritan), Financial donor and the Material donor etc to consider helping us in the Capacity you are well equipped.
There are over 30(Thirty) prisons in Kenya. Given an opportunity of getting Ministers, Volunteers and Financial empowerment and material, we can reach out to all prisons at least once a year. There are some towns where only 4x4 Vehicles can pass due to lack of good roads caused by heavy rains, hence by getting such a vehicle, we shall be able to put a smile on child whose father is in prison, and a wife and a husband whose Spouse is in jail.
We wish to ask and request you to heed to our earnest plead.
